I’ve got a week left to my 2024 no-buy (exception: worn out running shoes can’t be worn to run so must be replaced) and I have to say…it was fantastic and enlightening on many levels. I’ve kept a wish list all year…adding and deleting. There are exactly 2 items that remain on the list and they were the first 2 on it. Very interesting! I’m excited to shop, but now I really know what I want. 10/10 recommend. And on that note also beauty products. Replaced when consumed but have not ventured to new brands. So…nothing “new” there. I did it for me. I felt overfed and over influenced, like the way one can sometimes feel when the holiday season is over and you feel bloated and dried out and need a reset.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to start my no-buy Jan 1! I’m literally printing out the course workbook as we speak so I can always go back to the challenges and prompts throughout the year.

On day 4 of my 365 shopping rehab as I like to call it. I’ve done it before for 3 months but after a year of excessive shopping in 2024 it’s time to find other coping mechanisms besides hitting “buy now” . Even if I fail it’s going to be better than not trying at all. The rehab is for clothes, shoes and accessories “only”. There are still many other categories where I’ll be definitely shopping, either out of necessity or just wanting something. Since my addiction is definitely towards my wardrobe I am very excited to see what 2025 brings me.

Loved this Harriet and am definitely considering doing a no-buy challenge! Can I ask - where is your lovely tortoiseshell phonecase from, please?

Love this! I’m starting a three month no-buy in January, and my aim is really to make it a creative project and bring play back to getting dressed. I used to treasure each item in my wardrobe, and I want to get back to that. Thank you for the inspiring content, and Happy Holidays!

I'm also starting a no buy Jan 1 (for 6 months). I've been filling in the course workbook and watching the videos and I'm so excited. I love the idea of framing this experience as an exercise in "creative constraints" rather than restriction. For me, getting rid of the items in my closet is also not the goal. I have so many lovely things I rarely wear, so I'm looking forward to finding new ways to make them "work harder" as Harriet would say. Thanks so much for making the course!

I realize this comment is antithetical to the no-buy spirit, but I am grateful for the links to the Ezra Arthur bag. I’m in love!

I'm really curious about doing one! It was my resolution last year but I only lasted 1.5 months, which anyways gave me some insight so I'm not mad about it😅

Let me know if you try one again ;)

Yes to all of these, especially #2 and #10 - progress over perfection! I've loved following along with your no buy and have found so much inspiration in your creativity.
