Welcome to a new series i’m excited to share #TryinNotBuyin, which is quite literally what it sounds like. I go into a store that peaks my interest and try on a bunch of stuff that speaks to my personal style. Think of it as part research, part review, part temptation to keep my no buy challenge interesting.

As well as giving marks for each item I tried on out of 10, at the end of the post I will also rate the brand overall on the following out of a max 5 stars.

  • Quality

  • Sizing

  • Design

For some reason, the US seems to be the only place that doesn’t stock Arket, so there’s no stores and they don’t ship there. This is why when i’m in London I’m partial to a little puruze, and what I repeatedly notice is they never seem to the best pieces actually in the store (the one’s I see my favorite creators recommend/and the ones that give off a Toteme/Row vibe without the price tag). Maybe this is because they’re so good they sell out, but it does feel somewhat underwhelming when you can’t find anything you actually wanted to see in person.

I haven’t had much luck ordering from them online either even when I have been in England. The last time I tried to do an online order it didn’t arrive until 3 weeks after I made the order by which time I was back in LA (something they didn’t make clear when purchasing). My poor Mum had to return it for me in the end, so it turned out to be a total ball ache and I never got to see or own the pieces I had wanted to try.

As I walked into the Regent Street London store my immediate observations included: red was everywhere, and a lot of ‘inspired pieces/dupes’. Think Khaite cardigans, Toteme jackets, Row and Old Celine inspired handbags and Le Monde Beryl pumps to name a few. I picked up some pieces and headed to the fitting room, here’s what I tried on:
