I’ll take any and all versions of you dressed in a monochromatic look or with sprinkles of color. So many fun and delicious tidbits in this one, Harriet.

Happy New Year!

Oh I loved this. And your bags, my word. I’m with you on the shopping second hand - classic never goes out of style! And I’m trying to get myself back into heels. Lockdown and beyond has been a very flat life for me and at 5 foot 4 I need some height!

Thanks so much Anna!

I have had the woman with the stacked silver beaded necklaces pinned for ages! My goal this year is to actually put together outfits pinned to my “outfits I want to recreate” board, and use elements of style to be creative where I don’t have the same item . . . Figure out what I have in my closet that serves a similar function/look/etc.

Sam Elisa! I really want to focus on that this year too

I’m feeling inspired. This was a really great article. I don’t get excited about trends either, and I think your focus on style and styling is what I really appreciate about your fashion reflections.

Thanks so much Liesl!

Jeeeze I am now just realizing that you design bags and the entire time I was also thinking to myself "hot damn her makeup is stunning". Then I go to your website and it all makes sense. Sorry I am basically discovering who you are like right now HAHA.

Anyways, my mom (a long time follower) love your substack!

Incredible finds on all your vintage levis. I just ordered like 10 sizes to see what my true size it. Your subtle pops of color are chef's kiss!

Harriet Hadfield's avatar

Awe thanks for your kind words Katelyn! I don’t actually design bags but I do curate vintage collections 🥰 I’m also working on a post about the vintage Levi styles I love most, so thanks for the inspo ;)

Wow GORG!! I love seeing you play with color. And I am so excited for you re:vintage denim. You look amazing!

Harriet Hadfield's avatar

Thanks so much Maureen! Happy new year!

I smiled at the idea of styling levers – especially the way you describe them as something you can pull depending on mood, not identity. That feels so freeing. Some days you’re Artist In Residence, some days you’re channeling a bit of Patsy-for-no-reason, and both get to coexist without explanation. I love that permission to play without having to “arrive” at a final version of yourself. It makes getting dressed feel alive again!

Exactly! Love that it resonated ☺️
