So the Faux Margaux was a Faux Pas...has it changed my thoughts on replicas & dupes?
& how I found something even better for less than $100!
Picture this: A notification on your phone shows the faux Margaux is en route. Two hours later, the doorbell rings, and you carry in what appears to be sad sheet of plastic envelope supposedly holding your ‘Margaux’. I take it inside, I rip it open.
As I take it out of the package, I find myself trying very hard to convince myself I like it. ‘It’s just a bit squished from being in transit’, ‘it will soften’. What is clear, though i’m not ready to admit it yet — it isn’t going to magically turn into a real Row Margaux.
While I never presumed it would look as good as the real thing, I hoped it would for a bag with very minute branding at least offer up a good real leather bag that looked as close as possible to the real thing. Now before we get into the photos and how this story plays out (plus what I think is an even better bag for less than a $100), I recommend reading this piece I wrote first which covers my take on dupes and replicas.
