One of the things I want to make sure I prioritize when I finish my nobuy 365 is adding in pieces from Independent brands and labels. Today I thought i’d share some of the pieces in my forever wardrobe by independent brands, as well as a few who are new to me and I have my eye on.
White Space Jewelry
I was lucky enough to meet the incredible Khadijah Fulton when she hired me to do the makeup for her jewelry campaigns. The Los Angeles based jewelry designer makes the most incredible minimalist pieces using fine metals, pearls and diamonds. I’m lucky enough to own a few very special pieces by White Space, and the way she mixes baroque pearls with metal is just dreamy. I’m wearing the Pearl Empress Earrings above and the Mini Cloud Bar Earrings.
Porto Studio
My Porto pouch by Porto Studio has been one of my best purchases for evening attire and more formal occasions. I love when a brand does one thing really well, and thats exactly how I would describe Porto. They just sell the porto pouch in different sizes, and different colors, with the option to order a long cross body separately. The leather is so buttery soft and it just feels good in your hands. This is also such a no brainer to pack for even the shortest trips because it packs completely flat and s such will take up less space than a pair of socks.
ZII Ropa
Zii Ropa is a beautiful brand I discovered during my travels to Mexico City. The whole collection looks at dressing in a utilitarian way. The design process is fabric focused using natural fabrics and each silhouette is cut with functionality and tailored with a feminine finish. Inspired by the muted landscapes and textures of Mexico. I loved this dress so much I bought it in the cream color and a beautiful olive green.
Ezra Arthur
Ezra Arthur make stunning leather goods, and the Phoebe bag (pictured) is such a timeless classic. It fits perfectly on the shoulder and comes in this gorgeous caramel nubuck suede as well as classic black leather. Ezra Arthur honors age old traditions of leather making and create beautiful leather goods that are designed to stand the test of time. Think of them as future heirlooms.
Twyla Dill
Jeweller Twyla Dill learned how to crochet lace at age 19 and that has inspired many of her incredible designs. The piece i’m wearing above is called the Gina Chain bracelet, which is made from crocheted lace, cast into solid metal. I love that the crochet lace effect gives such an interesting twist on a very classic bracelet. I would describe her pieces as timeless with a twist.
I’d love more recommendations for independent artisans, brands and designers so please share yours in the comments below.
