The ability to see beyond the bad photo is the difference. It takes practice an imagination and I think haven’t tried on a lot of clothes helps. Every outfit in this post by the way 🔥
Love this list Harriet! The bad photos tip is so true!! I found a vintage lapis dial Cartier tank on Vestaire with horrible photos a few years ago. I took a chance on buying it and it turned out that it was in excellent condition, the glass just needed to be cleaned, which was thankfully an easy task for my partner. Obviously this isn’t quite the same as a clothing purchase but I think the principle still applies.
BTW if anyone has any interest in vintage Cartier tanks, my good friend has been restoring and selling them with the help of an expert watch maker who services them before they’re posted. If anyone would like any links, happy to share! x
These are such great tips Harry. Making sure things work for your life is key, as is pushing yourself to make some "nicer" pieces work in your daily life. I'm getting better at both of these. My daughter is a big fan of playmobil and while watching her play the other day I thought to myself, a good wardrobe is like playmobil. She gets a new set and makes all kinds of new stories and scenarios with it, blending the new pieces with the older ones. The bigger items: cars, carriages etc. often end up neglected, but all the little parts end up coming together in new and creative ways. It's really all about play!
Yes to fit. Yes to knowing your life. Yes to all! The number of times I’ve seen a gorgeous coat on TRR and had to hold back be well let’s see it was 80 degrees on March 1 😅

Oh I love this Liesl!
Such good lessons learned - especially looking past badly taken photos! I’m here for the talking to style-underappreciating husbands like smug twats 😂
Bahahahahha yes!

When my husband doesn’t get it, I generally feel like I’m on to something 😂
This!😂😂😂
