A shirt tied around the waist is the practical ‘accessory’ I didn’t know I needed

I have a newfound respect for the cotton shirts in my wardrobe. Not only do they offer a practical element in that it can act as a cover up and work in place of my beloved blazers as the temperatures soar, but they also act as an accessory. I’ve been wearing mine in place of belts, similar to how I do a sweater in Winter, to break up an outfit that’s one solid color (aka probably black in my case). They’ve become one of my favorite ways to style my t-shirt dresses. If an outfit starts to feel ‘too formal’ and you want to make it read a little more casual, the instant you put a shirt around the waist, it adds a slight grunge element that just works. I tie mine around my waist with the shirt completely open to get a nice slouch.
If you own dresses, you don’t need a skirt

Unless you love skirts of course! But here’s the thing….I can’t remember the last time I owned a skirt, and I think i’ve figured out why - I wear my dresses as skirts. All I have to do is layer a tee, a sweater or a jacket over a dress and it instantly looks like i’m wearing a skirt. It’s a great way to add some texture into a look, and something I found myself doing a lot during the beginning of the year. It’s a great way to give those dresses you aren’t wearing a new lease of life.
